What to Bring When You Come In to Buy a Car | Auto Mart Nashville
A lot of people put off visiting a dealership because they’re not sure what to expect, or what they’ll need when they get there. At Auto Mart, we want to take that uncertainty off the table. The process is simple, and coming in prepared means you can drive home the same day in most cases.
What You’ll Need to Bring
A valid, government-issued photo ID. A driver’s license works. So does a state ID card. We need to verify your identity, and that’s the only reason we ask.
Proof of income. This is the most important document you’ll bring. Recent pay stubs are the easiest option: usually the last two. If you’re self-employed or receive income from another source, bank statements showing consistent deposits work just as well.
Proof of your current address. A utility bill, a lease agreement, or any piece of official mail with your name and address on it is fine. It just needs to be recent. Within the last 60 days is ideal.
A working phone number. We’ll use this to follow up on your application and to stay in touch once your loan is active.
Your down payment. We accept cash, debit cards, and cashier’s checks. The amount varies depending on the vehicle and your situation, so feel free to call ahead if you want to know what to expect before you come in.
What You Don’t Need to Bring
No minimum credit score. No bank references. No letter from your employer.
We don’t use an automated system that approves or denies you based on a number. A real person reviews your application and looks at where you are today, not where you were five years ago. If you’ve been turned down somewhere else, that doesn’t close the door here.
What About a Trade-In?
If you have a vehicle to trade in, bring it. We’ll take a look and give you an honest assessment. A trade-in can reduce your down payment or help with your overall loan amount.
What Happens When You Arrive
Come by 2721 Nolensville Pike in Nashville, Monday through Saturday. If you’d like, you can also fill out our online financing application before you arrive so we can get a head start on your paperwork. Either way, someone will walk you through your options and answer any questions before anything is signed.
